McDonough man accused of shootings arrested after Monroe County chase

Deputies say the man rammed two patrol cars before being taken into custody.

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A McDonough man accused of shooting his wife and stepdaughter in Henry County was arrested Sunday night after a vehicle pursuit that ended in Monroe County, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the chase began in Butts County and moved into Monroe County around 11:35 p.m. on Sunday. Deputies say the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Devours Sherten of McDonough, rammed two Monroe County patrol vehicles during the pursuit, causing them to collide with his car.

After the crash, deputies said Sherten was taken into custody at the scene. He is being held at the Monroe County Jail without bond.

According to the sheriff’s office, Sherten faces multiple charges in Monroe County, including aggravated assault on a peace officer, felony fleeing and attempting to elude and several traffic violations. He also faces pending charges in Henry County and Butts County.
