Bibb County students among state’s highest Georgia Promise Scholarship recipients
The school choice voucher program offers families in the state’s lowest-performing public schools up to $6,500 to attend a private school or begin homeschooling.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The 2025-2026 school year begins this week and next in school districts across Middle Georgia, meaning the Georgia Promise Scholarship is now in effect.
The school choice voucher program offers families in the state’s lowest-performing public schools up to $6,500 to attend a private school or begin homeschooling. Bibb County had the third highest number of Fall 2025 recipients across the state with 582 students earning the scholarship.
The two others Middle Georgia school districts with over 100 recipients were Houston County (144), and Baldwin County with 105 students. The scholarship will be dispersed quarterly with participating students receiving $1,625 payments in July and October of this year, and January and April 2026.
