Nu-Way Weiners customers, employees voice frustration over illegal dumping at Bloomfield Road location

The restaurant scored a 100 on its most recent health inspection, but Kitchen Manager Senesta Foxworth says trash outside distracts from the tasty options inside, sometimes interfering with the ability of customers to access the drive thru.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Those who frequent Nu-Way Weiners on Bloomfield Road in Macon say illegal dumping on the restaurant’s property is bad for business and has gone too far.

“We’re trying our best,” said Senesta Foxworth, restaurant kitchen manager. “We clean our area. But I wish they would love their neighborhood and not dump trash like they were doing.”

The restaurant scored a 100 on its most recent health inspection, but Foxworth says trash outside distracts from the tasty options inside, sometimes interfering with the ability of customers to access the drive thru. Earlier this week, Macon-Bibb County Public Works cleaned up the latest pileup, but Foxworth says wrongdoers are already back at it.

Willona Smith and Jackie Sherman are longtime Nu-Way customers. Although it hasn’t kept them away, they both say seeing household waste outside of the restaurant during their lunch break is a turnoff.

“It makes the establishments such as Nu-Way look bad, and other areas that’s around the community look bad,” Smith said.

According to a county spokesperson, different agencies facilitate cleanup of the property depending on the size and material of the trash, as well as crew availability. Sherman says customers have the power to make their jobs easier and improve the overall restaurant experience.

“Put the trash where it needs to go,” Sherman said. “We have recycle bins. Because that hurts the environment and the community. You don’t want to come nowhere and it looks like that in front of the store.”

Foxworth says staff will continue efforts to keep the property in the best shape possible but adds that they need help.

“It’s the neighborhood people that are dumping trash in their neighborhood,” Foxworth said. “And it’s really sad that people don’t love their neighborhood enough to keep it clean.”
