Rain odds stay low; heat climbs again Thursday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Temperatures dipped slightly Wednesday thanks to proximity to Invest93L. They will climb more as that system moves west in the Gulf.
This Evening
There was a decent amount of cloud cover this morning thanks to Invest93L lurking to the southwest in the Gulf of America. This has led to some nice breezes around the region which have helped take the edge off the heat. Scattered clouds will remain through the evening and into tonight, however rain odds will remain low. Lows will be around average in the low to mid 70s accompanied by light wind from the south.
Tomorrow
More heat is likely with most of the heat indexes returning to the triple digits in the afternoon. Skies will be partly sunny with highs in the low to mid 90s. Wind will be out of the south at 5-10 mph. A few isolated showers or storms will be possible, but most of the region should stay dry.
Overnight will be clear with lows largely in the lower 70s. Rain is not expected and the wind will be gentle from the south-southwest. Some patchy fog will be possible ahead of Friday morning.
Friday and Beyond
Friday should be mostly sunny however scattered storms look possible in the late evening and early nighttime hours. Highs will be pushing into the upper 90s to finish the work week and roll into the weekend. Wind will remain gentle as it returns to the standard direction for this time of year (southwest).
Watching the Tropics
Invest93L is anticipated to continue to move west over the Gulf of America. The odds for it to become a Tropical Depression have dropped to 40% for the time being, so hopefully intensification does not occur too much before a potential landfall somewhere in Louisiana or Texas. No direct impacts from this system are expected in Georgia save from the slight breezes that have already been seen.
