GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Deputies arrested two women Monday after a shoplifting report at the Dollar General on Shurling Drive in Jones County.

According to a news release, deputies responded on July 7 to a BOLO for a white Ford Crown Victoria involved in the theft. They say they quickly found the vehicle and found two large handbags inside, both filled with food and drinks stolen from the store.

Deputies say Lashawna Simmons and Lafaydra Little admitted to taking the items without paying.

Deputies charged Simmons with theft by shoplifting, driving with a suspended license, expired tag and no insurance. Deputies say she also had an active warrant out of Bibb County for a previous shoplifting charge.

Little was also arrested and charged with shoplifting.

The merchandise was returned to the Dollar General.
