Mostly sunny for Independence Day

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Fourth of July will be a hot afternoon around Middle Georgia with little chance for rain.
This Evening
A few isolated showers and storms are ongoing around Middle Georgia. A few will remain possible this evening, but most of the region should stay dry. Expect a mild night with partly cloudy skies and lows in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Wind will be light from the north-northeast.
Independence Day
July 4th falls on a Friday this year which worked out well for anyone planning vacations for the holiday. Here in Middle Georgia expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid to upper 90s. Real feels should hover around 100 degrees through the heat of the afternoon.
It will be a bit breezy too; wind from the northeast will flow in at 5-15 mph with gusts pushing 20 mph. This is thanks to a low pressure off the southeast Georgia Coast trying to become a Tropical Depression. The odds of development are currently 60% within the next 7 days. While rain cannot 100% be ruled out, the odds are very slim and all festivities for the holiday should be a go.
Overnight will be mostly clear with wind from the east-northeast at 5-10 mph. Lows will be in the lower 70s. Rain is not expected.
This Weekend and Beyond
Thanks to that low trying to intensify off the Georgia Coast the temperatures should be a bit regulated Saturday. It will be a partly cloudy and breezy day with a few spotty showers. Sunday will see less of that wind and lesser rain odds as well. Highs will return to the mid to upper 90s with real feels pushing 100+. It will get even hotter next week as actual highs push towards the triple digits with real feels towards the 110+ range.
