UPDATE (6/5): The man who ran from a Georgia game warden Wednesday morning was fishing near Juliette Dam on the Ocmulgee River and was wanted on multiple warrants, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
Game warden Wes Freeman told 41NBC he was checking on a man and woman fishing on the Jones County side of the river when the man take off. Freeman said both people had fishing licenses but said they didn’t have other forms of ID. After running the man’s name through the Georgia Crime Information Center, Freeman said he learned David Maroney had “four or five” outstanding warrants. Freeman said he’s not aware of the charges.
Freeman said when he returned to the riverbank, the woman was walking with the couple’s fishing gear and the man had run away. Freeman said Maroney has an address in Griffin, while the woman’s address is in Alabama.
Maroney is still on the run as of Thursday afternoon.
