UPDATE: Three Macon-Bibb firefighters released from hospital after fire truck crash

UPDATE (10:10 p.m.): The third firefighter is being discharged from the hospital now, according to Macon-Bibb Chief Communications Officer Chris Floore.


UPDATE: Two Macon-Bibb County firefighters have been discharged from the hospital and a third is expected to be released later Wednesday night, according to Chief Communications Officer Chris Floore.

“There were no serious injuries; just bruised and sore, thankfully,” Floore said. “Chief [Shane] Edwards has been at the hospital all evening with them and won’t leave until they’re all out and home with their families.”


MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Three Macon-Bibb County firefighters were injured Wednesday night when their fire truck crashed at the intersection of College Street and Magnolia Street, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

In response to a 41NBC inquiry, the sheriff’s office said deputies responded to the single-vehicle crash at 5 p.m., after the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center received a call for assistance. The crash involved a Macon-Bibb Fire Department fire engine.

The firefighters were transported to a hospital for treatment. No information has been released on the extent of their injuries.

Deputies say College Street, from Hardeman Avenue east to Georgia Avenue, is temporarily blocked. The crash remains under investigation.
