UPDATE (5/23/25): Milledgeville Police say Timothy Freeman was found dead in the river around 11:30 a.m. on Friday about one mile south of the Greenway.

According to an updated news release, drone units directed Georgia DNR Game Wardens and Milledgeville Fire Rescue to the location.

The case is still under investigation. That’s all the information that’s been released right now.

“We ask everyone to please keep Mr. Freeman’s family in your thoughts and prayers,” the release said.


ORIGINAL STORY (5/22/25):

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Law enforcement agencies are searching for a missing man last seen walking at the Oconee River Greenway in Milledgeville on Wednesday, according to a news release from the Milledgeville Police Department.

Milledgeville Police officers responded to the Greenway around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday after family members reported 45-year-old Timothy Freeman missing. They said they last saw Freeman walking in the area around 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to the news release posted on Facebook, Milledgeville PD, along with drone units and Georgia Department of Natural Resources Game Wardens, are searching the trails and riverbanks. The Baldwin County Dive Team has been called in to check around the boat ramp area, but police say there is no evidence at this time that Freeman entered the water.

Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency shared the police department’s post Thursday, referring to the case as a BOLO for “Wade Freeman.”

Freeman was last seen wearing a light blue t-shirt and khaki shorts.
