Pedestrian killed on I-75 near Pio Nono Avenue in Macon
Bibb County deputies say a man walking along I-75 in Macon was hit and killed early Sunday. It's the latest in a string of recent pedestrian crashes.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A man died early Sunday morning after being hit by a car while walking on Interstate 75 northbound near the Pio Nono Avenue on-ramp, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the scene just before 6 a.m. and found that a 34-year-old man driving a 2008 Honda Accord struck the pedestrian, who was walking in the northbound lane of travel. The driver told investigators he did not see the man before the collision, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Bibb County Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene at 6:30 a.m., according to Coroner Leon Jones. Jones added that the man may have been living at a nearby homeless camp behind the Arby’s on Pio Nono Avenue but said efforts are still underway to notify his family.
Jones said the vehicle stopped. The sheriff’s office has not announced any charges.
This marks the fifth pedestrian struck in Middle Georgia since Wednesday. Four of the crashes were fatal.
