Brookdale Resource Center in Macon honors Danielle Hill as Volunteer of the Year
Brookdale Resource Center in Macon named Danielle Hill as its 2025 Volunteer of the Year for her dedication to serving people facing homelessness.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Brookdale Resource Center in Macon has named Danielle Hill as its Volunteer of the Year, honoring her dedication to serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
Danielle expressed her surprise at receiving the recognition.
“I was not expecting it because I come over here not for any type of recognition,” she said. “I come over here just to give back my time. That is my sole purpose.”
Each week, she volunteers about two hours at the center. For Danielle, giving back is deeply rewarding.
“It’s an overwhelming feeling to be able to know that you have given back,” she said.
The Brookdale Resource Center functions as an emergency shelter, offering two main programs: a 90-day program that helps individuals work toward permanent housing, and the “Hello House,” an emergency overnight shelter where individuals leave during the day and return at night.
Alison Bender, Executive Director of Brookdale Resource Center, says Danielle’s commitment is essential to their operation.
“We would not be able to provide clothing and essentials to individuals staying here if it weren’t for Danielle’s organizational skills,” she said.
Danielle’s main role is maintaining the Women and Children’s Clothing Closet, keeping it tidy and accessible. She shared how the experience has impacted her personally.
“Being able to come in here and give back the time that I do have and then have an impact in this area where there’s always a need, and I feel that has just been an overwhelming accomplishment,” she said.
