6 Months Later: GA Music Hall Closure Impact

It’s been 6 months since the Georgia Music Hall of Fame closed its doors, and the Macon Convention and Visitors Bureau has had to find new ways to fill the void of the attraction.

President and CEO of the CVB, Monica Smith, says after the hall closed the number of people staying in area hotels dropped. “The occupancy has decreased slightly since July,” says Smith.

In recent months only 50% of rooms in area hotels have been filled.
Before the Hall closed the CVB says there was a rush of tourists, and months after the closure visitors still showed up looking to make one more trip.

“Most people were probably disappointed, because there was something that they wanted to see or they thought they’d make it before it closed,” says Smith.
