Macon man arrested for assault, cell phone theft at Sprint Foods

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man was arrested for punching a woman in the head and taking her cell phone Wednesday, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a news release, the suspect was apprehended after his girlfriend left his home following an argument. The report states the suspect followed her, entered the store behind her, punched her in the head, and took her cell phone. The woman ran to another store and called 911.

The suspect fled on foot but was tased and taken into custody after a brief chase.

The suspect, identified as Gerald Anthony McKenzie, faces charges of willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer, false report of a crime, and simple battery.
