Houston County Law Enforcement Trains K-9s to Take a Bigger Bite Out of Crime

Houston County law enforcement let the dogs out today for their 2nd annual K-9 training session.

Officers put the dogs to the test, simulating real life situations.
Most of the animals used are detection dogs, specializing in narcotics,
which is a growing problem here in Middle Georgia.

Other dogs are trained as cadaver, explosive device, and criminal detectors.

“We have more folks running from us, we’re seeing more dope in central georgia and without these dogs, our jobs would be that much harder trying to stop the criminals in central Georgia,” says Lt. Mike Stokes of the Houston County Sheriff’s office.

The K-9 training sessions will be going on all week.
