Deputies: Inmate dies after collapsing inside Bibb County Jail
A 60-year-old inmate at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center died Wednesday after collapsing in his cell, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 60-year-old inmate at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center died Wednesday after collapsing in his cell, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
A news release says inmates alerted corrections deputies just after 3:30 p.m. that the man was unresponsive. Jail medical staff performed life-saving measures until EMS arrived. The inmate was taken to Atrium Health Navicent for treatment, where he was later pronounced dead by medical staff, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones told the sheriff’s office.
The inmate has been identified as 60-year-old Eric Eugene Snyder.
Snyder was being held in the Bibb County jail since March 5, 2022, on charges of aggravated assault and probation violation.
An autopsy will be conducted as part of the investigation into the in-custody death. The sheriff’s office said its Office of Professional Standards’ Internal Affairs Investigators is handling the case.
