GBI arrests three in Middle Georgia drug bust; meth trafficking, weapons charges filed

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested three people in a multi-agency drug investigation in Middle Georgia, seizing illegal drugs, firearms and cash during search warrants in Macon.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested three people in a multi-agency drug investigation in Middle Georgia, seizing illegal drugs, firearms and cash during search warrants in Macon.

46-year-old Neico Tomorris Sandifer of Macon, 40-year-old Shawanda Carswell of Milledgeville and 30-year-old William Hancock of Macon were taken into custody after the investigation led by the GBI Middle Georgia Gang Task Force, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, Department of Community Supervision and Department of Corrections, according to a GBI news release.

Law enforcement executed search warrants on Tuesday, February 11 and reported seizing 168 grams of suspected marijuana, 447 grams of suspected synthetic cannabinoids (K2/Spice), five grams of suspected crack cocaine, nine grams of unknown pills, three rifles—including one reported stolen from Warner Robins—four handguns, two vehicles and $1,700 in cash.

Sandifer faces multiple charges, including trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime (seven counts), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of crack cocaine and possession of gabapentin.

Carswell was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, with additional charges pending. Hancock was charged with probation violation. All three were booked into the Bibb County Jail.

According to the GBI, the investigation aimed to disrupt drug distribution and gang activity in Middle Georgia. The Middle Georgia Gang Task Force covers Middle and South Georgia.
