Pedestrian killed in Laurens County hit-and-run, Georgia State Patrol looking for suspect vehicle

A 52-year-old Dublin man died early Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle that left the scene on Georgia 19, according to Georgia State Patrol.

LAURENS COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 52-year-old Dublin man died early Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle that left the scene on Georgia 19, according to Georgia State Patrol (GSP).

GSP says the crash happened around 3:30 a.m. when James Smith was walking south on Georgia 19. A vehicle hit Smith from behind, leading to his death. The driver did not stop and left the scene with front-end damage on the left side of the vehicle.

Investigators believe the vehicle may be a white commercial vehicle with noticeable front-end damage.

“We do not have any pictures of a possible vehicle yet,” GSP said in an email.
