Snow to continue tonight; staying cold Wednesday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Snowfall will continue for Middle Georgia this evening and tonight.
This Evening
Snow is ongoing across Middle Georgia as we roll into the late afternoon and evening. This will continue through the evening and into tonight, so Middle Georgians should hunker down and stay off the roads. Overnight temperatures will plummet into the upper teens and lower 20s, so any snow that falls in the evening and later will stick into the next day. Ambient winds will flow from the north at 5-12 mph, gusting as high as 17 mph. Snow totals across the region will likely range from about 2-6 inches with the heavier amounts expected in the southeastern counties.
Tomorrow
It will be a frigid start ahead of a cold day as temperatures begin in the upper teens and low 20s and only climb a bit above freezing. Model guidance has begun to show lingering cloud cover Thursday which will limit melting potential and could allow impacts to linger into Thursday morning. Wind will flow from the northeast at around 5 mph through the afternoon.
Overnight skies will clear out some as temperatures again fall into the upper teens and lower 20s. Re-freezing of melted snow from the afternoon is expected and could make for icy patches on the road come Thursday morning.
