Union Elementary School recognized by GADOE for exceptional academic achievements
"I've seen a lot of improvement since the first day of school," third grade teacher Mark Wallace said. "We're working hard motivating them, inspiring them to keep on working, because it’s a long journey. Third grade is the start, but they have a long way to go."

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Georgia Department of Education is recognizing nine Bibb County schools with exceptional academic achievements and improvement.
State School Superintendent Richard Woods said he is incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication demonstrated by all the students, teachers and school communities recognized.
Union Elementary principal LaShun Crawford says she sees a major difference in the students.
“The students, they enjoy coming to school, we provide that positive learning environment, and the students work hard for themselves, they work hard for the teachers,” she said. “We look at their data, they look at their data, they know where they are. That’s one of the components of my shared vision of teaching and learning, is for students to know their data.”
Third grade Union Elementary teacher Mark Wallace says this achievement not only motivated his students but also showed them their capabilities.
“I’ve seen a lot of improvement since the first day of school,” he said. “We’re working hard motivating them, inspiring them to keep on working, because it’s a long journey. Third grade is the start, but they have a long way to go.”
Fourth grade Union Elementary teacher Bianca Killings says she feels very accomplished with this recent achievement.
“I was with my students last year, so I looped up with them from third grade, so just looking at the progress they made from the beginning of third grade up until now I’m blown away and I’m excited,” she said.
