Hancock Superintendent Waiting on GBI Before Taking Disciplinary Action

The Hancock County Schools Superintendent is speaking out today for the first time since a fight at a football game sent a coach to the hospital.

The fight broke out on Friday, October 14th, between Hancock Central High School and Warren County High School following their game.  The Warren County football coach was sent to the hospital after he apparently tried to break-up a fight between players on both teams.  The coach had to have reconstructive surgery to his face.

The GBI will be at Hancock Central High School Tuesday to talk with some of the football players. When the investigation is complete, the superintendent will decide what action to take against the players.

“We teach good sportsmanship. We teach how to resolve conflicts. There are counselors who go into classrooms to discuss conflict resolutions. And, I was appalled. I was shocked to hear that such an episode, such a brawl, such an activity took place such as that here on our grounds,” said Gwendolyn Reeves, Hancock County Schools Superintendent.
