MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Middle Georgia will get its first decent rainfall since Hurricane Helene in late September tomorrow into Thursday.

This Evening and Tonight

What has been a partly sunny afternoon for Middle Georgia will become a cloudy night. It will be a muggy one with dew points already firmly in the mid to upper 60s. That’s about where low temperatures heading into Wednesday morning will be as well. Wind will continue from the southeast tonight at around 5 mph, so some fog will be possible overnight and into tomorrow as well. A spotty shower or two cannot be ruled out either, especially as Wednesday morning draws on.

Tomorrow

Overcast skies are anticipated for Hump Day around Middle Georgia. Highs will range in the 70s tomorrow with rain likely to start heading into the late morning hours.

More widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon and evening. Expect wind out of the east-southeast at 5-10 mph. While severe weather is not expected, a couple of storms could feature relatively strong wind gusts.

Rain will continue into tomorrow night as conditions remain calm and muggy. Expect skies to be overcast with lows again in the mid to upper 60s. Wind will continue to flow from the east at 5-10 mph. Rain may linger into Thursday morning for some parts of Middle Georgia.

The Tropics

Tropical Storm Rafael is intensifying and will likely become a Hurricane before making landfall in Cuba tomorrow afternoon. It is expected to turn west in the Gulf of Mexico after lashing Cuba, weakening before a potential 2nd landfall in Louisiana.
