Unionville Improvement Association Hosts First Public Forum at Mercer

Tonight, state politics are the talk of the town in Macon.

Residents had the chance to hear from elected officials at the first Unionville Improvement Association community forum.

Georgia politics had many people, including former senator Robert Brown, engaged in an open discussion surrounding the future of the Democratic party.

“I just think we need to get back to a point where we can have some intelligent dialogue and educate ourselves,” says Gerald Harvey, founder of UIA.

Most in attendance say there is a lot of uncertainty for the Democrats since new lines were drawn in the redistricting process.

“Hearing different points of view can prepare us for a future that is much much different from the present,” says Representative Vincent Fort, House District 39.

The next forum held will focus on local issues. Harvey says he hopes to get Macon’s elected leaders involved to discuss their ideas and concerns for the city.
