Tattnall Square Academy Students Wear ‘Hats4Hope’

Students and faculty at Tattnall Square Academy are experiencing the effects of childhood cancer because one of their classmates is battling it.

Abby Wilson is battling lung cancer and recently had surgery. Now, her friends are raising awareness about childhood cancer by joining Jay’s HOPE Foundation and participating in an event called “Hats4Hope.”

On Friday, students and teachers donated money to the foundation and put on their hats. The hats symbolized what children with cancer go through when they lose their hair.

“On average, 3 children a month are diagnosed with childhood cancer, just here in the Macon area,” says founder of Jay’s HOPE Cindy Gaskins.

Student at Tattnall and Wilson’s best friend Jon Clayatwater says, “I love her and everybody around Tattnall is caring for her and praying for her.”

Several schools around Middle Georgia partnered with Jay’s HOPE Foundation in the “Hats4Hope” event.

The organization has provided support for more than 700 families since it started 5 years ago.
