ABBEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office says it’s issuing a curfew starting at 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 26 until 8 a.m. on Friday, September 27 as Hurricane Helene makes its way toward Middle Georgia.
“This Curfew includes ALL of Wilcox County including Abbeville, Pineview, Pitts, Rochelle, and Seville,” a sheriff’s office Facebook post said. “If at all possible, limit your travels Before and After these times so road crews are able to clear the roads so First Responders will be able to respond to emergency calls.”
The sheriff’s office says there are no road signs indicating water over roads, so you should proceed with caution if you must travel.
“Sheriff Wessel, Chief Banks, Chief Woods, and all of Wilcox County First Responders want all the citizens of Wilcox County to remain safe during and after this potentially severe weather event,” the post continued. “Thank you for your cooperation during this time. Stay Safe!!”
