Paris Defeats Lucas For State Senate District 26 Seat

In the race for the Georgia Senate District 26 seat, former Macon City Council president Miriam Paris defeated 37 year political titan, David Lucas.

The win comes after Lucas’ claims that Paris was not qualified for the job–and that she didn’t know anything about the issues. Paris says she’s ready to put all that behind her as she tries to get everyone together on the important issues.

“This is a great night for District 26,” a smiling Paris said to her supporters after learning she won. “This is a great night for women; this is a great night for Democrats all over this district. I just want to thank you all–all of my supporters, all of my donors. I am here to represent all of the people of District 26, whether you supported me or not. I’m here to represent all of you.”

Paris will be occupying the same seat held by Senator Robert Brown for 20 years.

She won with 56% of the votes.
