Six Plead Guilty in Middle Georgia Cocaine Drug Ring Case

Middle Georgia is one step closer to winning the war on cocaine. After a three year investigation, a drug distribution ring led by two brothers is off the streets, eliminating one of the largest drug operations in East Macon.

“We’re talking about something that is like a poison,” says Sheriff Jerry Modena, Bibb County.

This toxin was sold by the Fowler brothers, the leaders of one of city’s largest drug trafficking families.

“Their distribution went state wide,” says Michael Moore, U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia.

In the past three years, they pushed hundreds of kilos of cocaine in the Fort Hill area, bringing in more than $8 million dollars.

“These individuals were essentially wholesalers so the street value will be much greater,” says Fowler.

The six men in the drug ring were indicted in late January of this year. Just last week, they plead guilty to possession and intent to distribute.

“We all got together about three years ago, and we did a unified effort against this family,” says Chief Mike Burns, Macon Police.

Chief Burns is referring to the multi-agency investigation called “Fowl Play.” It was a joint effort by the DEA, GBI, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Macon Police Department, and the Jones County Sheriff’s office to get Macon’s main drug family out of Fort Hill.

“There’s no place for drug dealers in middle Georgia,” says Moore.

Now that the Fowler’s operation is over, Chief Burns says, offenders beware.

“If you use drugs, sell drugs, or deal drugs at all in middle Georgia we’re gonna hunt you down, we’re gonna arrest you, and we’re gonna prosecute you.”

Moore says the Fowler family picked up their supply of cocaine in Atlanta. They are assisting in that investigation as well.

The six members currently in custody are awaiting sentencing on October 26th.
