Coroner: Wesleyan cross country athlete dies after cardiac arrest
Macon-Bibb Coroner Leon Jones says a Wesleyan College student-athlete has died after going into cardiac arrest on Saturday.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Wesleyan College student-athlete died Saturday after going into cardiac arrest, according to Macon-Bibb Coroner Leon Jones.
Jones identified the student-athlete as 23-year-old Nefertari Holston of Dothan, Alabama. Jones says Holston was pronounced dead at 10 a.m. Saturday at Atrium Health Navicent.
“The entire Wesleyan Community is deeply saddened by the death of one of our students,” Wesleyan College spokesperson Drew Davidson said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time. This student has been a vibrant part of our campus, and this loss will no doubt impact us all. We are providing counseling services to our students, and we encourage anyone to reach out. We ask you to respect our students and our community’s privacy as we grieve and come to terms with this loss.”
Jones confirmed Holston had been competing in that meet.
