UPDATE: Arrest made in fatal crash on Rivoli Drive

According to deputies, the driver of a Honda Civic left the roadway and collided with multiple trees and a fence.

UPDATE (8/26 – 6:12 p.m.) – Bibb County deputies say a person is now in custody in connection with a fatal crash on Rivoli Drive Friday night.

According to a sheriff’s office news release, 44-year-old Angel Hector Rodriguez of Macon was taken into custody just before 5 p.m. Monday after being released from a medical facility.

He’s charged with homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to maintain lane, too fast for conditions, expired license plate and no valid insurances. He’s being held without bond.

ORIGINAL STORY (8/26 – 10:29 a.m.):

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident that took place on Friday on Rivoli Drive near the intersection of Rivoli Ridge Drive, according to a media release. The fatal accident happened on August 23 at 9:56 p.m.

According to deputies, the driver of a Honda Civic left the roadway and collided with multiple trees and a fence. The driver and passenger were transported to Atrium Navicent Health for injuries.

The passenger, identified as 31-year-old Devan Fishback. Fishback, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley says the next of kin has been notified. The driver of the vehicle is listed in stable condition.

This incident is currently under investigation.
