MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon woman faces feticide charges after a crash last year killed an unborn baby.

Ashawntee Mclin was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, feticide by vehicle and failure to obey traffic signal, stemming from a November 3 collision at Presidential Parkway and Log Cabin Drive, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the crash incident report, obtained by 41NBC, Mclin failed to stop at a red light, causing a crash with another vehicle. The other driver, who was 24 weeks pregnant, lost her unborn baby in the emergency room the following day.

Mclin was also taken to the emergency room after the crash, according to the report.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for Mclin’s blood and urine samples on November 8. The samples were sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab for alcohol and drug testing.

Although the sheriff’s office received the test results earlier, deputies say they only recently obtained approval from the District Attorney to charge Mclin.
