ORIGINAL STORY (8/7/24):

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is searching for Joshua Mills, a North Carolina man who was last seen in the Johnstonville Road area near Interstate 75 Wednesday night. Deputies say Mills, who was reported missing in North Carolina, was last known to have contacted a family member about car trouble before running away.

Details of Joshua Mills’s disappearance

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Mills was in the Johnstonville Road area when he contacted a family member for help with car trouble.

“As the family member was attempting to help him, Mr. Mills ran away,” the sheriff’s office stated in a Facebook post on Wednesday night. Sheriff’s office spokesperson Anna Watkins tells 41NBC he was last seen running into the woods just before 9 p.m.

How to assist in the search

Deputies say Joshua Mills is about 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black jogging pants and no shoes. He is believed to be experiencing a mental health episode.
