MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Howard Middle School audio, video, technology and film teacher Sarah Mallett is the Bibb County School District’s 2025 Teacher of the Year.
The district made the announcement during Tuesday’s Convocation, held inside the Macon Coliseum.
“To me, an educator’s greatest gift to students is to pass along the promise, the passion, and the possibilities of learning,” Mallett said. “It is not the mere teaching of facts so that one possesses knowledge, but the ignition of inquiry that creates within a student the love of learning.”
Vineville Academy’s Toni Siebenmorgan was named runner-up.
Sonny Carter Elementary School’s Kimberly Pope, Central High School’s Jennifer Tillery and Northwoods Academy’s Rennata Wilson were also finalists after being chosen from among school-level winners across the district.
All school-level Teachers of the Year, along with the district’s Media Specialist of the Year, Counselor of the Year and Social Worker of the Year, will be celebrated during an October 1 event at the Grand Opera House in downtown Macon.
