Deputies: Monroe County traffic stop on I-75 leads to 4 kilogram methamphetamine seizure

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A traffic stop by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office on Interstate 75 at Exit 189 on Thursday resulted in the seizure of 4 kilograms of methamphetamine, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a sheriff’s office Facebook post, deputies stopped a southbound Dodge Charger. During the stop, a K9 unit alerted on the vehicle, prompting a search. Deputies reported discovering a backpack containing the methamphetamine on the backseat.

The driver, identified as Jerry Lewis Williams of Macon, was arrested and is being held without bond at the Monroe County Jail.
