(CNN)- Georgia Governor Brian Kemp discussed the presidential race with CNN before the first debate, which is being held in Atlanta.

He told CNN that he did not vote for Donald Trump or anyone in the Georgia Presidential Preference Primary because the primary was over, and the race was decided. He said Trump was already the presumptive Republican nominee.

“In the Georgia primary. I didn’t vote for anybody. I voted but I didn’t vote for anybody. I mean, the race was already over when the primary got here,” Kemp told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins.

Now, he says he’s focused on getting Republicans elected across the board. Despite not voting for Trump in primary, Kemp has maintained that he will “support the ticket” in November.

When it comes to the debate with President Biden, Governor Kemp offered that former President Trump should focus on what he can do in the future for Americans, instead of focusing on the 2020 election.
