Former Westside High School band director arrested on sexual battery charge
Joseph Patrick Martin arrested for sexual battery following student allegations

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Joseph Patrick Martin, a 40-year-old former band director at Westside High School, was arrested last week following allegations of sexual battery.
According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the arrest was made after a 19-year-old former student reported multiple incidents of inappropriate conduct.
The report shows the most recent incident occurred on May 30. The victim’s mother contacted authorities after her son disclosed the allegations.
Martin is charged with sexual battery.
We reached out to the Bibb County School District and received this response:
“Bibb County School District administration was notified on June 1 of an allegation of inappropriate conduct involving a teacher at Westside High School. Per protocol, the teacher was placed on administrative leave immediately. As of June 11, the teacher is no longer employed with Bibb County School District. Any investigation that may have resulted in charges is an active investigation of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. Joseph Martin was employed by Bibb County School District at Westside High School since July 2016.”
