UPDATE: Milledgeville Police say body of missing swimmer is recovered
The body of a person who went missing Thursday has been recovered, according to the Millegeville Police Department (MPD).

The Oconee River Greenway has been reopened and crews are clearing the scene, according to a Facebook update.
MPD thanked Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Milledgeville Fire Department, Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Baldwin County Fire Rescue, Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency, Baldwin County Public Safety Dive, Atrium Health Navicent EMS and Baldwin County E-911 and MPD dispatchers.
MPD did not release the name of the swimmer.
UPDATE (11:30 p.m.) – Police say crews will resume water search efforts Friday morning.
“The Greenway will be closed throughout the night and until further notice,” a Facebook update stated.
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Milledgeville Police Department has launched a search for a missing male at the Oconee Greenway after two males were reported struggling in the water on Thursday evening.
Authorities responded to the scene at approximately 7 p.m. after receiving reports of the incident. According to a Facebook post by the Milledgeville Police Department, one male was able to safely get out of the water, and emergency personnel are currently looking for one male who witnesses say was not able to exit the water.
The Oconee Greenway is closed as emergency crews continue their search efforts. The identity of the missing person has not been released.
