Scattered storms likely this evening/tonight, hotter tomorrow
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Pop up storms are likely for much of Middle Georgia the rest of today and into tonight, however their odds drop tomorrow.
This Evening
Partly cloudy skies from the afternoon will see storm activity fire up more as we roll through suppertime and into tonight. No severe weather is expected, however heavy rain, lightning and thunder, and a few strong wind gusts/small hail will be possible. Storms will also nicely cool areas that they impact.
Outside of rain conditions tonight will be partly cloudy and sticky. Low temperatures will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s accompanied by a light wind out of the south-southeast.
Tomorrow
Partly sunny skies are likely as temperatures rise into the lower 90s for most of Middle Georgia. Heat indexes will likely reach into the mid to upper 90s. Ambient wind will come from the south-southwest at about 5-12 mph, gusting up to about 17 mph. A couple of isolated showers or storms will also be possible in the afternoon/evening, however odds will be down greatly from Tuesday. No severe weather is expected with any storms either.
Overnight it will remain muggy with most spots around Middle Georgia only dropping into the lower 70s. Cloud cover will likely ramp up in the hours leading to Thursday morning. Ambient winds will remain out of the southwest at 5-10 mph.
Thursday and Beyond
Thursday will start off relatively cloudy ahead of a cold front that will arrive later in the day. That cold front will likely instigate some isolated to scattered storms during the afternoon hours. Conditions will begin to clear out more in the evening as winds shift towards the northwest heading into Thursday night. This will lead to a reduction in humidity rolling into the weekend, however afternoon highs will still reach the 90s even after the cold front has passed.
