(UPDATE 6/5 at 1:00 p.m.)

Warner Robins Police Chief Wayne Fisher held a press conference going into more detail of the situation.

“In around 8:00 in the morning, Warner Robins Police Department members responded to an address on Johns Road in reference to a domestic incident. During that time, when the officer responded on scene, they did find a victim that being a Mr. Youncy Toliver that was viciously beaten, sustained a multiple serious head injuries that still has him in the hospital to this point in time.

The beating was so bad that it qualified as an aggravated battery, which means that through the assault that a members deprived of a major use of their body. There was a significant head trauma done to the victim. Also present on that time was a member, that was a relation to the offender, that was a Patricia King.

So you have an involvement of parties and again, Johnny Knight, Patricia King, being the female victim on scene as well at that time that this assault took place, who is the girlfriend to Johnny Knight. So in that point in time, after the assault, the victim had presented a weapon to defend himself and Mr. Knight, turned around and was able to get the weapon from him and beat the victim with his own weapon.

So you had a hard impact device, utilized into the assault against, the victim itself. From that point, the offender fled the scene. We were able to identify who he was, through the statements of the girlfriend (Patricia King) and as well an address point for the offender where he may be that being at the 200 on Wisconsin Avenue where many of you, were yesterday with us, at that point in time, of which the first units arrived on scene, they attempted to make contact with Mr. Knight in regards to the incident and it was evidence that there was a person inside the residence and at which point in time that subject would not communicate with law enforcement.

With that and with contact with the family to Mr. Knight, who was determined that he was inside the residence and our officers secured both arrest and search warrants so we could facilitate the arrest for the serious offense of the aggravated battery. So with that, we engaged in to a point of a barricaded subject because he was unwilling to come out and discuss the matter with us and the Swat team and hostage negotiator was called and deployed.

And at which point in time we utilized our tactics through the process of negotiations and with the Swat team to resolve it in a nonviolent manner, to where Mr. Knight did ultimately surrender to law enforcement without incident, though he has preexisting medical conditions that are being addressed at this time,” said Fisher.

Fisher also said this was the second time they had to deploy SWAT this year.
