Rain odds begin to climb more Friday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The odds for stray showers and thunderstorms will begin to rise more Friday.

This Evening

Partly cloudy skies will clear out some heading into the evening before more scattered clouds move in overnight. Evening temperatures will stay in the 80s, and overall temperatures tonight will be warm with lows largely in the upper 60s, or about 5 degrees above average. Expect overnight wind to come from the west-southwest at around 5 mph. A stray shower tonight cannot be ruled out, but the odds are extremely low. They will begin to climb a bit more heading into the start of Friday.

It will be a mostly cloudy and muggy start with some spots likely to see patchy fog during the early morning hours. Spotty showers are possible early in the morning with a few isolated storms possible in the afternoon. A Level 1 “Marginal“ threat for severe weather includes the northern half of Middle Georgia for tomorrow afternoon. The risks will be a bit of hail or some strong wind gusts.

Outside of rain odds temperatures will peak in the upper 80s and lower 90s with heat indexes pushing towards 93-94F in the warmest spots. Ambient wind will come from the southwest at around 5-10 mph.

Overnight expect partly cloudy skies with the chance for a shower or storm early on. Winds will be light and variable with lows in the upper 60s and lower 70s around the region.

Saturday looks to be partly cloudy with scattered storms likely in the afternoon and evening. It will be hot as well with highs reaching into the low to mid 90s ahead of storms. A Level 1 “Marginal“ risk includes much of Middle Georgia at this time.

Breezes will begin to pick up some heading into Sunday as a few isolated storms will again be possible in the afternoon. Memorial Day Monday will also have some decent storm chances over the back half of the day as a weak cold front moves through the region.
