MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Temperatures continue to rise Thursday as highs begin to eclipse the 90 degree mark.

This Evening

Partly cloudy skies will stay with Middle Georgia through this evening and into tonight as temperatures stay in the 80s and upper 70s through the evening. The added cloud cover could make viewing the Full Flower Moon a little more difficult. Rain odds for this evening are low, but a stray shower cannot 100% be ruled out. Lows will be in the mid to upper 60s by tomorrow morning as winds continue from the south tonight around 5 mph. Some patchy fog will be possible leading into Thursday morning.

Expect mostly cloudy skies to begin the day before a bit more sun returns in the afternoon. Highs will reach the upper 80s in the northern half of the region with the southern half of Middle Georgia likely to climb into the lower 90s. Heat indexes for most of the region will be into the 90s tomorrow afternoon, however. Winds will be out of the southwest at around 5-10 mph.  A couple of isolated showers or storms will be possible throughout the day, however odds will be best in the afternoon.

Friday and Memorial Day Weekend

It just keeps getting hotter into the weekend as highs climb into the low to mid 90s Friday and over the weekend with isolated shower and storm chances each afternoon. Winds will be a bit breezier over the weekend, however it will be very important for Middle Georgians to stay hydrated and spend time in the shade to avoid sun complications. The best opportunity for rain will arrive on Memorial Day as a weak cold front moves through. That will lead to slightly cooler and drier conditions during the middle of next week.
