Coroner: 1 dead, 1 injured after fiery crash in Wilkinson County

One person is dead after a crash involving two semi-trucks on Highway 441 in Wilkinson County on Tuesday.

WILKINSON COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One person is dead after a crash involving two semi-trucks on Highway 441 in Wilkinson County on Tuesday.

Wilkinson County Coroner Billy Matthews confirmed the death, but said the person’s identity has not been released.

Matthews, who was still on the scene as of 9:30 p.m., said both southbound and northbound lanes are closed, with traffic being diverted onto Highway 112.

He says the crash happened just after 3 p.m.  Another person involved in the crash was taken to Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, he said.

A photo shared on social media showed a large plume of smoke rising from the crash site.
