Washington County deputies make nine arrests in multi-day contraband operation
Nine people are now in custody after the Washington County Sheriff's Office says its deputies seized seven pounds of marijuana, two pounds of methamphetamine, seven pounds of tobacco, two pounds of ecstasy, three drones and 15 cell phones.

SANDERSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Nine people are now in custody after the Washington County Sheriff’s Office says its deputies seized seven pounds of marijuana, two pounds of methamphetamine, seven pounds of tobacco, two pounds of ecstasy, three drones and 15 cell phones.
According to a Washington County Sheriff’s Office news release, sent Thursday by Sheriff Joel Cochran, the operation spanned six days.
“The flow of contraband poses a serious threat to the safety and security of our communities,” Cochran in the release. “The collaboration between Washington State Prison and the Georgia Department of Corrections has been pivotal in these operations. Together, we remain committed to upholding the integrity of Washington County and ensuring the safety of both inmates and staff at Washington State Prison.”
The suspects arrested and charged:
- 32-year-old Lonnie Moore of Hephzibah
- 24-year-old Joseph Sims of Augusta
- 32-year-old Burtron Barnes of Augusta
- 38-year-old Deangelo Myers of Douglas
- 37-year-old Tereance Horne of Union City
- 22-year-old Jaquay Haynes of Augusta
- 21-year-old Christian Mack of Keysville
- 28-year-old Quintavion Baker of Peachtree City
- 24-year-old Michael Martin of Augusta
Their charges range from conspiracy to commit a crime and trafficking methamphetamine to trading with inmates and the illegal use of unmanned aircraft systems.
