Scattered thunderstorms possible all weekend

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Afternoon thunderstorms are likely throughout this weekend around Middle Georgia as a summer pattern sets in.

This Evening and Tonight

Off and on isolated storms will persist around the region with the eastern half of Middle Georgia most likely to see them. Outside of that skies are partly to mostly cloudy as temperatures stay in the low 80s and upper 70s. For anyone partaking in First Friday events the rain gear is still suggested as a couple of showers or even a thunderstorms will remain possible overnight. It will be muggy as well with lows in the upper 60s (potentially lower 70s) and gentle winds out of the south. Fog will be possible.

Saturday brings the best odds for rain over the weekend for Middle Georgia. Highs will reach the low to mid 80s in the afternoon under mostly cloudy skies, however with dew points in the upper 60s and lower 70s the real feels could be pushing towards the upper 80s. Storms will likely begin to fire up around lunchtime, becoming more widespread in the late afternoon and evening.

Unlike Friday where most of the storms should taper off into the evening, a decent amount of rain activity could linger into Saturday night. Winds will remain out of the south as skies stay cloudy with lows in the mid to upper 60s. Overnight fog will be possible again as well.

Sunday will truly be a taste of summer thanks to a bit more sunshine in the afternoon. Isolated to scattered storms are again likely over the back half of the day as highs creep into the mid to upper 80s. Heat indexes will firmly be in the upper 80s for much of the region thanks to the increased humidity following Saturday’s rain.

Overnight a couple of showers or perhaps a storm will remain possible. It will be mostly cloudy and muggy again with some fog as lows stay in the mid to upper 60s.
