PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The City of Perry Fire & Emergency Services Department will host “Train Like a Firefighter” at the Davis Farm Fire Station on Saturday.
According to a news release, the event starts at 10 a.m.
Participants will engage in a physical agility test, receiving hands-on guidance from Perry Fire Department members at each of the seven skill stations.
After practicing each skill, individuals will gear up to complete the entire course wearing a firefighter helmet, gloves and a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Participants must successfully complete the course in seven minutes or less to meet the state standard for firefighters.
“Through Train Like A Firefighter, we hope participants will gain a deeper understanding of our department, explore firefighting as a career, and enjoy a unique, challenging, and cost-free exercise activity,” Fire Training Chief Charles Mundy said.
The event is limited to the first 20 citizens to arrive and sign the waiver on the day of the event.
Spectators must park in designated areas to avoid obstructing fire apparatus.
Davis Farm Fire Station 2 is located at 150 Commodore Drive in Perry.
