More rain expected for First Friday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An incoming surface trough will bring more rain to Middle Georgia to kickoff the month of March.

Cloud cover will not budge as Thursday comes to a close. Rain shower odds will increase, especially after sunset. Expect winds to remain out of the east-northeast at around 5-12 mph, gusting upwards of 20 mph. Temperatures will be a bit chilly overnight as they bottom out in the low to mid 40s. Expect scattered showers to stick with Middle Georgia through the night and into Friday morning.

Rain will likely be ongoing as the sun rises tomorrow. It will be a chilly, breezy, and wet day with highs only reaching the upper 40s and lower 50s. Winds will mainly come from the northeast at about 5-15 mph, gusting as high as 25 mph. Rain through the afternoon will likely be a mix of showers and thunderstorms, however no severe weather is expected. Precipitation should taper off in the evening, allowing Middle Georgians to partake in First Friday activities if they wish to do so. Extra layers will be necessary for anyone going out.

Overnight a couple of small showers will remain possible, but for the most part the rain should subside around sunset. Low temperatures will be in the mid to upper 40s around the region heading into Sunday morning.

This Weekend

Showers will be possible both Saturday and Sunday, however Sunday could see a couple of breaks in the clouds to allow some rare sunlight in this gloomy pattern. Temperatures will be warmer with Saturday bringing upper 60s back to the region and 70s returning Sunday. It will remain warm and cloudy into next week.
