MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An incoming cold front will bring strong winds, showers, and perhaps a thunderstorm or two to Middle Georgia Wednesday.

The Rest of the Evening

Skies will remain mostly cloudy through this evening and tonight. It will be a very warm night as a result with temperatures dipping only into the lower 60s and upper 50s. The wind will remain strong from the south-southwest with sustained speeds falling between 10-15 mph and gusts reaching over 25 mph through much of tonight. Rain should largely hold off until tomorrow save for a couple of small showers, however.

Expect overcast skies and powerful winds to continue most of tomorrow. Gusts will likely range from 30-40 mph throughout much of the afternoon. A Wind Advisory includes all of Middle Georgia until midnight tomorrow night. Highs will reach the upper 70s and lower 80s ahead of the front which will arrive during the late lunchtime hours. It will bring a line of showers and perhaps a couple of thunderstorms, however no severe weather is expected.

Rain will taper off in the evening and early tomorrow night. The winds will shift to the north-northwest behind the front at about 10-15 mph, gusting over 20 mph. Skies will not clear out, however, as a mass of high level clouds will move in behind the front thanks to high pressure staying too far north. Temperatures will mainly drop into the low to mid 40s ahead of Thursday.

Thursday and Beyond

Skies will be mostly cloudy Thursday with highs largely reaching the lower 60s around the region. Friday will be overcast with scattered rain chances, especially late. It will be cool too with highs only into the upper 50s and lower 60s. Rain will remain possible through the weekend and into next week with cloud cover not budging during this timeframe either.
