Man killed in east Macon house fire

Bibb County Coroner says it happened Tuesday night at 1426 Kitchens Street.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 65-year-old man is dead after a house fire in east Macon, according to Macon-Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

The fire happened on Tuesday night at 1426 Kitchens Street.

65-year-old Arthur Merriweather was pronounced dead at a local hospital after 9 p.m.

Jones said Merriweather died from major burns and smoke inhalation.
