UPDATE: Houston County Sheriff’s Office investigation determines no foul play in fatal construction accident
A 58-year-old man died after a tree fell on him at a construction site in Bonaire.

UPDATE (2/1/24): The Houston County Sheriff’s Office provided new details Thursday about the accident that left a construction worker dead earlier this week.
A news release from the sheriff’s office says deputies responded to 495 South Highway 247 just before 10:30 in reference to a construction accident.
“A construction crew was on scene clearing timber from the land,” the release said. “While clearing the trees, a tree rotated unexpectedly away from machinery being used to clear the timber and fell towards two construction workers in the area. Both workers were unable to move in time to avoid being struck by tree.”
Both of workers were taken to the hospital, and that’s where one of them, Selso Sanchez, was pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office says the investigation revealed no indications of foul play and that no charges are being filed.
