Bulls to Give Game Ball to Sportcaster’s Family

CHICAGO – The family of late Chicago sportscaster Daryl Hawks is to receive the ball from Game 6 of the Chicago Bulls series against the Atlanta Hawks.

Bulls spokesman Tim Hallam tells the Chicago Sun-Times that the team plans give the ball to Hawks’ family. Hallam says it is a “small thing we can do” and he hopes “it means something to his family.” He says team members will autograph the ball.

The 38-year-old TV sports anchorman from WMAQ-TV in Chicago was found dead in his Atlanta hotel room on Thursday. He was in Atlanta to cover the Chicago Bulls-Atlanta Hawks NBA playoff series.

An autopsy found Hawks’ cause of death was inconclusive. Additional tests are pending.

Hawks was a married father of three and native of Buffalo, N.Y.
