River Edge Behavioral Health expanding in 2024

There will be new administrative offices, an outpatient clinic and a housing project.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – River Edge Behavioral Health is expanding in 2024 with new administrative offices, an outpatient clinic and a housing project.

In Feburary, River Edge will begin construction at Riverside Plaza behind QuikTrip on Riverside Drive in north Macon. A new outpatient clinic building will include behavioral health urgent care, child and adolescent outpatient services and substance use disorder treatment.

According to Cass Hatcher, Chief Executive Officer of River Edge Behavioral Health, the new clinic will provide services to a wide range of patients.

In addition to the new clinic, River Edge is also set to begin construction of the “Serenity Courtyard of Macon,” a permanent housing project consisting of 26 tiny homes meant for senior adults. The tiny homes, which will be located on Bloomfield Drive, are expected to be complete by December of this year.

Ten permanent tiny cottages in east Macon are also being built right now, which will house those who are homeless and have a mental disability or suffer from substance abuse.

The Courtyard and the cottages will also come with wraparound services to help residents remain stable and build a better life for themselves.

To become a resident, an individual needs to be homeless and have a disability by the standards of the Macon-Bibb Economic Opportunity Council.
