MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A blast of arctic air will drive temperatures below 20 degrees tonight across much of Middle Georgia.

The Rest of the Evening

Any remaining high level clouds over the region will work to clear out through this evening. Winds will remain a bit breezy from the northwest tonight as they range from about 6-15 mph. Gusts could still push over 20 mph at times, dropping wind chills into the single digits for some spots. A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for Upson, Lamar, Butts, Monroe, Jasper, and Putnam Counties until 10:00 AM Wednesday morning. Outdoor pets should be brought inside along with any small plants. Plants that cannot be moved should be sprayed with water. Lastly, all Middle Georgians should drip their faucets to avoid plumbing headaches.

Tomorrow

Overnight a few cirrus clouds may pass through, but that will be all. Overnight winds will be calm and variable with low temperatures largely falling into the lower 20s. Middle Georgians should take the same precautions tomorrow night as they do tonight to prepare for the frigid conditions.

Thursday and Beyond

Thursday will be mostly sunny until the evening. Highs will reach the mid 50s around the region with winds mainly coming from the south-southwest at around 5 mph. Overnight will be mostly cloudy with the possibility for a few showers. These showers may linger into early Friday, but clouds will clear around lunchtime much like Tuesday. Cold and sunny conditions will stick around this weekend.
